Arian Repalda, a passionate thrifter, discovered that 75% of the clothes in her wardrobe came from thrift stores.

Arian started thrift shopping since she wanted to cut costs and make more money. She was also drawn in by the idea of finding one-of-a-kind, name-brand goods at low prices that she could combine in her unique way to create a distinctive style. (See images 1 and 2)

An incredible list of precious items can be found in Arian's closet. These finds range from a Forever 21 outfit that was acquired for 50 pesos and resold for 1,500 pesos. To BERSHKA shoes that were purchased for 150 pesos and resold for 1,200 pesos.

Thrift shopping is more than just a financial decision for Arian; it's also about being practical and reducing impact on the environment. She plans her thrift shopping to take advantage of discounts at her favorite thrift store, "Fleur de lis," such as "3 for 100," where she can get amazing bargains on items that are often sold for much higher prices.

Arian views thrift shopping as more than just an opportunity for personal gain; she also sees it as a path toward sustainability.

Thrift shopping has a huge positive effect on the environment since it allows for the reuse and recycling of clothing, thereby reducing the amount of garbage and harmful chemicals deposited in landfills and rivers.

Arian encourages people to emphasize their own decisions above the judgments of society. Despite the cultural views and stereotypes that still exist around thrifters and hygiene, thrifting is more than simply a shopping spree for Arian; rather it is a conscious lifestyle that prioritizes practicality, sustainability, and the freedom to express oneself differently.

“Thrift shopping to me means being
practical and sustainable.”
