LAUNDRY TIPS

Oops, time to wash your thrifted clothes!
Second-hand garments need their extra TLC.
But did you know that each fabric has its own needs? Let’s now master the art of fabric care to once again slay the day with your treasured ukay!

COTTON

 You should pre-treat stains, if there are any.

 Cold water for clothing, hot water for bed linens and undergarments.

 The washer cycle should be normal

 Wash after every two to three wearings.

 Washer cycle should be gentle

 Wash in a mesh bag

 Wash after every use

WOOL

 Detergent should wool or cashmere shampoo

 Cool water temperature

 Washer cycle should be delicate

 Do not machine dry

 Wash after every few wearings

SPANDEX

 Detergent should be mild and no chlorine bleach

 Cold water temperature

 Washer cycle should be gentle

 Wash in a mesh bag

 Wash after every use

AFTER CARE

• Iron settings should be cotton setting or 400 F/204

• Fold and store cotton pants

• Hang cotton shirts to prevent wrinkling

• Iron on a low to medium-low heat setting

• Use pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric

• Store in cotton garment bags or rolled up in all-cotton pillowcases

• Use a steam iron or hang the garment in a steamy bathroom

 If iron, use the lowest heat setting

 Never wet the silk when ironing

• Avoid folding or leaving it balled up

• Use natural moth repellent as silk fibers attract months

• Don’t use iron

• Use steamer on low and moist

heat setting

 Store in a cool and dry location

• Should be folded to prevent the cloth from losing its’ shape

• Drip-dry away from the sun or direct heat

 Don’t use iron

• Store away from heat and light that may fade colors
